Fiona Sinclair
Fiona Sinclair was born in Aberdeen in 1972. She is proud to be a graduate of Glasgow University (B.Mus hons) and studied viola at the Royal Northern College of Music.
In 1995 Fiona began a love affair with Hungary when she won a Hungarian Government scholarship and a grant from Sean Connery's international education trust to complete her studies at the famous Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest.
She established the Blue Frog music consultancy (Blue Frog Music Management) with her colleague, Bob Riley in 1999. They became General Managers of The Lancashire Sinfonietta in 2000 and have successfully established the orchestra as one of the finest chamber orchestras in the north of England, achieving widespread recognition and acclaim throughout the music-loving community.
It’s hard to know which end of the country Fiona is working at from one day to the next as her work takes her all over the UK. She enjoys a vibrant blend of work by combining her career as a professional violist with her work as an Arts Manager.
Posts she has held include Assistant Concerts Manager of the Cheltenham International Festival, Artists Manager of the Ryedale Festival, General Manager of the Ribchester Festival of Music & Art and Orchestra Manager of the Goldberg Chamber Orchestra and London Bach Orchestra.
Fiona's extensive musical travels have taken her as far afield as Panama and Australia, and she tours the Greek islands of the Dodecanese every summer with the acclaimed chamber group, the Laskarina Chamber Players.
In addition, each year Fiona works alongside the award-winning tour operators, Laskarina Holidays, who have been involved with Blue Frog since its inception. She has been Production Manager for their brochure for the last three years, which started with a complete overhaul and rewrite of 170 pages covering 13 Greek Islands in 2003. She has also helped to coordinate an instrument amnesty to provide instruments to the “Symi Music School” which aims to encourage the study of classical instruments in the Greek Islands.
